Marvel's Dark Web finally reveals Ben Reilly's new powers as Chasm, giving him a superior edge over Spider-Man despite being Peter Parker's clone.

Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Amazing Spider-Man #16
In the latest issue of Amazing Spider-Man, Peter Parker's evil clone Ben Reilly has finally revealed his dark power upgrades. Following the loss of his copied memories from Peter and falling into a pool of psychoactive goo, Ben Reilly was darkly corrupted, becoming the revenge-seeking Chasm with the belief that Spider-Man is responsible for all his loss and pain. Having joined forces with Limbo's Goblin Queen Madelyne Pryor who has her own clone issues with the X-Men's Jean Grey, the current Dark Web crossover is the prime background for Ben to reveal all of his dark new abilities.
In the new Amazing Spider-Man #16 from Zeb Wells and Ed McGuinness, Spider-Man finally faces Ben for the first time since they fought at the end of the Spider-Man Beyond era. Having been unaware of what happened to Ben after he fell, Reilly's dark transformation into Chasm is a great surprise for Peter Parker. However, it becomes even more surprising after they start fighting and Chasm reveals his new powers such as an impressive evolution of Spider-Man's traditional spider-sense.
Ben Reilly's New Chasm Powers Make Him A Darkly Evolved Spider-Man

Not only is Ben's spider-sense now able to act as a direct countermeasure rather than simply warning him of danger, it's also revealed that Chasm can create energy constructs from his webbing, not unlike a Green Lantern from DC Comics. As such, it's a good thing Chasm isn't trying to kill Spider-Man (yet). Instead, it seems as though he really wants to torture Peter before he takes his soul to regain the copied memories he's lost.
While the Beyond Corporation is responsible for Ben's lost memories, he's been made to think that Spider-Man is the true culprit and simply won't share them again. Ben needs them to remember the simplest parts of his past, even if it's really Peter's and Ben didn't experience it himself. Without those memories, Ben is in constant pain and has nothing but a massive void in his soul, hence the name Chasm.
As Marvel's Dark Web crossover continues, it will be interesting to see what else Chasm has in store for Spider-Man, especially after he's banished the Webslinger to the depths of Limbo, essentially Marvel's version of Hell where Madelyne Pryor has already captured and brought multiple X-Men to her domain during their demon takeover of New York. Combined with Chasm's brand new power upgrades, it's clear that Spider-Man has quite the gauntlet in front of him as Dark Web continues. Amazing Spider-Man #16 is on sale from Marvel Comics.
